CONSULTATION AND TRAINING FOR EMDR

TRAINING
Fraser Training was established in 1999 and has an excellent track record for producing confident EMDR clinicians. Now under the direction of Barbara Horne MASc, RMFT, Fraser Training offers EMDRIA-approved Basic EMDR Training courses on a regular basis in Central and Eastern Canada. These small-group trainings (maximum 30) are well recognized in the Canadian EMDR community for their effectiveness in enabling clinicians to immediately incorporate EMDR into their work with clients. In 2009, Fraser Training started offering the program in French, the only program of its kind in Canada.
There are three steps to completing the EMDRIA-Approved Fraser Training’s Basic EMDR Training program:
Part 1: |
3½ days (15 didactic hours; 12 practicum hours) |
Part 2: |
3 days (15 didactic hours; 8 practicum hours) |
Consultation Package: |
10 hours with an EMDRIA-Approved consultant |
Fraser Training delivers the program over two long weekends at centres throughout Eastern and Central Canada. The consultation hours follow each training weekend. The consultation hours are provided by means of our Consultation Package which schedules five 2-hour group teleconferences with the Instructor or Facilitator (2 after Part One and 3 after Part Two). On site courses are available; the program is also expanding into new centres.

ABOUT THE COURSE
The Fraser Training course exceeds the standards set by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), offering an extra half-day for experiential activities and demonstrations. It provides a safe and personal context in which to develop your skills.
The program is divided into two parts:
Part 1 (3½ days) equips you to work with simple PTSD cases
Part 2 (3 days) offers techniques and protocols for working with complex PTSD and special populations.
During the five practicums, you do personal EMDR work in groups of 2 or 3, closely supervised by instructors and facilitators (on a 10:1 ratio).
Following each of our training weekends, you will have what you need to immediately and comfortably begin using EMDR with your clients. Our training groups often go on to form peer-support networks or consultation groups.
WHO CAN JOIN?
EMDRIA-Approved Basic EMDR Training is open to clinicians holding a Masters-level (or higher) education in a counselling field. Membership in a professional association with a Code of Ethics and sanctioning ability is also required. For those in private practice we require proof of Liability Insurance.
